Direct cable connection.
- As it is obvious, it is connection between tow computers by using
direct cable (DCC), by using cables between one computer and another. And these cables
used in connection differ from those used in ordinary serial cables. You need to redefine
the pins in the serial cable (transmit and receive data pins) so you could able to let the
connection in both directions.
-
- Or you could use modified parallel cable between the parallel port
(usually used to printers) you also need to modified the transmit and receive pins the
connection speed may exceed 120kb/s, and if you have enhanced parallel port (EPP), or
extended capabilities Port (ECP). The connection speed may exceed the 1Mb/s. after you
finished the connection between the tow computers, then its time to install the
software needed to DCC, from control panel open add/remove then click the windows setup
tab then click details then choose direct cable connections, this will install the dial up
networking (you may need the windows CD to finish installation) you need to restart your
computer, then from Accessories chose direct cable connection then DCC wizard will start,
then you need to define your computer to be host or guest. If you choose your computer to
be host then you could enter all shared resources it will be one direction connection. If
you choose guest so you wont share the host resources.

Connection using ether net cards.
-
- You could use this type of connection to connect tow or more
of computers, notice here if you connect using coaxial cable and you want to connect tow
computers and you use a T connection to use a terminator, if use Rj-45 cables and you want
to connect more than two computers you will need to use hub. Now if you want to connect to
computers and you use the RJ-45 cable (which is better here) make the cable connections
and then you are now ready to setup your connection software. Despite your connection type
you need to install network client protocol, from control panel double click on networking
(if you installed your ether net card windows will install Microsoft networking
automatically) click add from configuration dialog then choose client from select network
component dialog then click add then network client dialog appears select Microsoft from
manufacturer window then choose client for Microsoft networks from network clients.
Then you need to install protocol (Netbios extended
user interface) NetBEUI, it is standard protocol for most of Microsoft network systems.
Again click add from network dialog click the protocol then select the Microsoft / NetBEUI
from shown protocols, and if you want to install Internet on your computer from the dialog
box add the TCP/IP protocol, and restart your computer now your connection is ready.
Assigning Files and printer
sharing.
To add files and printer sharing between the tow
computers, from control panel open network click file and printer sharing, from that
dialog you could select the toe options appears for printers and files sharing then you
need to restart your computer.
Then if you want to share any drive or folders, go to
my computer click on drive or folder and then click the right mouse and select sharing and
then choose your sharing type and click ok. And thats it. For the printer sharing
from my computer open the printers folder click the printer you want to share and then
right mouse click and then select share and the same step before.
